Off Night Productions is Theatre for Everyone, Every Night
In an arts loving community like Bloomington, Friday and Saturday evenings are busy nights for so many people. You could be in the service industry and working your most profitable shifts. You could be an arts lover deciding which one of many great theater or music productions to go see. Or you could be an emerging artist hoping to afford a venue and the time off to showcase your artistic talents.
So why not spread the arts love beyond the weekend?
We are excited to introduce our newest project, Off-Night Productions!
The culmination of years of discussions around the Seader family dinner table, Off-Night Productions is a female-lead production team, producing contemporary theater and music.
Off-Night Productions wants to focus on making great theater more accessible to in Bloomington.
Locally, the service industry and the entertainment and arts community are deeply intertwined. Many young artists take jobs in the service industry as servers, baristas, and bartenders to pay the rent as they are training, creating, and pursuing a career in the arts. However, when a coveted performance opportunity comes up, artists must give up their most lucrative shifts at their job (Thursday-Saturday) to accommodate their performance schedule. By the end of a 2-3 week run, these artists' bank accounts may be running dangerously low. Those who are not performers, but who love the arts and might be interested in seeing a show, often face a similar conundrum. They may wonder “Do I give up a lucrative weekend bartending shift in order to see a show?”
Off-Night Productions invites everyone, performers, crew, and audiences, to join us at the beginning of the week for high quality theater and music performances.
Our productions will be presented on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings.
This schedule allows not only more up and coming artists a chance to take part, but gives audiences the chance to see more theatre on nights that don’t conflict with other productions. (It also brings more income to local arts venues by helping them fill their rental space on off nights.)
